The tour begins here with an impressive fossil collection. What struck us most was seeing the remains of dinosaurs that lived in Mexico millions of years ago, including species that have only been found in this region.

Pavilion 2: The Desert, a World to Discover
This pavilion left us speechless. We realized that the desert is not an empty place, but an ecosystem full of life.

Interactive exhibit on the evolution of the desert over time.
Pavilion 3: History of the Desert Peoples
We loved this pavilion because it shows how humans have lived in the desert over time.
Highlights:
History of the indigenous peoples of northern Mexico.
Replicas of ancient desert dwellings.
Tools and objects used by pre-Hispanic civilizations.
Tip: There is an interactive room where you can touch some replicas of ancient tools.
Pavilion 4: Desert Fauna
This is where we really got excited! In this pavilion, there are live animals that inhabit the desert, from small insects to large mammals.
The favorites:
Black bears (rescued and protected by the museum).
Mexican wolves (an endangered species).
Birds of prey like eagles and hawks.
Impressive fact: The museum participates in Mexican wolf conservation programs, a species that almost disappeared in Mexico.
Botanical Garden and Interactive Zone
After touring the pavilions, we went out to a botanical garden where we could see cacti and desert plants from different parts of the world—the best part is that you can buy some and take them home.
Additionally, there is an area with interactive activities for children and adults. Here you can experience what a sandstorm is like or touch real fossils.

El Mesón Principal – Famous for its steaks and traditional Coahuila dishes.
Tip: Many restaurants in Saltillo include cabrito (roast goat) on their menu, a specialty of the region. Give it a try!
